Ummm.... yea
So last post October..... not good. I won't even try to say I touched fabric every day. I won't hang my head in shame, I will just keep going. Isn't that how life is, if you make a mistake you keep going? I tell my children failures are expected.... it's what you do with them that counts!

Wellll..... guess I failed my own challenge.
I see it's been over a month since I have posted, but not truly over a month I've been away from stitches. September wasn't a great month for our family. A young member of my family struggled with some life issues which set things up for true chaos. I did manage to put together and quilt the pink quilt, made an emboidery (Hoop Sisters) pillow, and made a few more snowman blocks. Life certainly gets in the way of my hobby. I'm not nursing the flu... day 5 now, so crossing my fingers I'm on the mend.

Finally
Finally designed a quilt I'm happy with.... thanks to EQ5. I actually think it's possible to finish the Pink Quilt if I bury myself in the sewing room. :o)

Current stitches
I haven't posted daily, but I have gotten a few stiches in. Seems the snowman is my friend after a long hard day at work. I've decided to finish up a quilt I started for a Relay for Life Raffle but now it will/may become a Foundation Raffle. In my outpatient oncology department we provide free medication assistance, home needs as well as hospice care out of a fund/foundation. We have a Breast Cancer Walk Run next weekend and fancy that, my relay quilt is in pinks..... ah ha, an idea hit me this morning to use it for that event. I had most of the blocks cut a few months ago, but decided I didn't like how it was coming out. It's been on the design wall for quite a while and somehow it just came to me how to adapt it. I design most of my own work, have even sold patterns in the past, and when it hits, it's usually exactly what I was thinking of in the end. No quilt shall be released without my 100% love of it. So, I, once again, and putting myself under the wire to complete (redesign the blocks, put blocks together, design/add borders, sandwich, quilt, bind...whewwww I'm tired just thinking of it)this "new" quilt by next Saturday...... am I kidding???? Yowsah, I better get to work!!!

Where did we begin.....

I ran into this from Daisy Quilts and oh what a fun idea. I love my story because it takes me back to a much simpler time. I had always been a crafter in some way or another. When my daughter was 6, 16 long years ago, I was making stuffed animals for her and her brother, then 2. In the fluff package was a pattern for a quilt. I thought, okay, why not. So I bought fabric, made little card board templates (that I didn't know were called templates) no ruler, just regular old paper scissors, pencil markings that I'm sure were not exact and cut the fabric, stitched it up and wa la. I'd made a quilt. I was so thrilled that I could make little "blankets" for my little people. I didn't know a thing about quilting, but read the instructions well and made the entire thing myself. I was so proud and thrilled at the smile on my daughters face. I met a quilter years later and she was shocked when I showed her my very first quilt. Now I look back and think if I'd have know what I was doing I'd never would tried it thinking it was to hard. Who works with HST when they have no idea what they are doing?? Well big and bold as I was, I did. It's not a bad first effort considering I had no idea about 1/4" seams, how important the cutting was and surprisingly I've only found one pucker in the final project. I made a much similar quilt for my son, still didn't realize how to be simple. I left off the star points but I followed the same pattern. I'd only left out the stars because it was a bit much with sport themed fabric in my mind but used the square card board. I still have both of those quilts, in my hutch for safe keeping for maybe some day a grand-girl and a grand-boy. Here it is, don't look to close at the points, but isn't it lovely.....

Thank you for walking down that memory road with me. Stop and see Robyn and answer her question for yourself "What started us on this wonderful endless journey??"<

Monday on Tuesday
Today was Monday and Tuesday all rolled into one. That's not a good thing. I'm very glad I started this 365 days of stitches goal because I think that is all that will get my mind off work today. Can I say I don't like being middle management! It's oh so fun when the upper managers throw you under the bus. Today I was a roasted without the comedy. I'll just curl up, stitch away and let it all melt away into the fabric.

Happy Labor Day!
Which for me means a paid holiday off work!!! We picnic'd yesterday with some close friends, after the debate, "are we going or not?". I was eating Tums like candy and just didn't have the desire to go anywhere. We went, had a nice time and I'm glad I didn't pass up the chance to spend the beautiful day outside with good friends. I managed to get in a few stitches, the arm & glove of Mr. Snowman, so I'm still on my 365 day track. Today I've got to go shopping for lab coats. I threw my scrubs in the wash with a blue T-shirt. Who would have thought one navy T-shirt from Old Navy on cold wash/rinse would turn every lab coat I have gray??? Obviously not me!!! That's what I get for rushing to get my work laundry done before the college girl schleps 8 loads of laundry home for the weekend. Of course, it's a holiday..... these things don't happen when the uniform shops are open. Hopefully it will be a short adventure.
